Crafting Authentic Homemade Marinara Sauce

Richly flavored and luxuriously textured, this homemade marinara sauce elevates everyday pasta dishes and turns simple meals into memorable gatherings.

Ingredients
  

  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 medium onion finely chopped
  • 4 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 can 28 oz crushed tomatoes
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1/4 cup fresh basil chopped

Method
 

  1. Heat olive oil in a saucepan over medium heat.
  2. Add the chopped onion and sauté until translucent, about 5 minutes.
  3. Stir in the minced garlic and cook for another minute.
  4. Add the crushed tomatoes, oregano, sugar, salt, and pepper.
  5. Stir everything well and reduce the heat to low; let it simmer for 20-30 minutes.
  6. Taste and adjust seasoning as necessary.
  7. Stir in the fresh basil just before serving.
  8. Serve the marinara warm or cool it down for storage.
